Melita lies in the heart of some of the finest Whitetail Deer country in North America and is on a migration route for geese and ducks. The area has an abundance of Sharp-tailed Grouse and Grey Partridges, with Wild Turkey and Ring-necked Pheasants becoming established. There is a healthy moose population in the Turtle Mountains (40 minutes away south-east)
