Southwest Recreation District


The goal of Southwest Recreation is to encourage and provide opportunities for people to experience leisure through the initiation of a public recreation program which shall include all aspects of recreation: physical, social, cultural and artistic; all striving to meet the needs of the Town of Melita and the Municipality of Two Borders.

For all seasons and all reasons you can find indoor and outdoor activities to your liking.

Programs currently being offered are arts and crafts, sports, cultural programs, and sports clinics. Southwest Recreation provides services and opportunities for everyone. All ages (“from cradle to grave”) enjoy all kinds of activities. Programs vary year to year to accommodate specific requests.

Get your sweat on using the fitness room that overlooks the gymnasium.  Or take advantage of the windows that offer you a view of the golf course.  If Fitness equipment isn't your style, take part in a number of activities that happen in the gymnasium.  Spin Bike Classes, Pickleball, Volleyball, Yoga, these are just a small number of the events that take place throughout the year put on by Southwest Recreation.  For class information, fitness information, or to stay in the loop of upcoming activities, follow Southwest Recreation on Facebook.


         

Keep your back swing in check during the winter at the Golf Simulator! A great way to spend an hour or 4 as you tour popular PGA hotspots including Pebble Beach!  Perfect for an leisurely afternoon, date night, or team building.  With the kitchen in the Communiplex open, you can now enjoy a frosty beverage and appetizers.

Housed inside the Enns Brothers Place, the Arena is an excellent community facility that is utilized by all ages. In the winter months it is home to many Minor Hockey Teams, rec teams and the Melita Skating Club. The arena is used for other off season events such as weddings, trade shows and dances. The arena was originally built in 1972 and in 1974 an artificial ice surface was added. Its bleachers seat 800 and a lobby area capacity of 250 people and is fully accessible. Come and relax by the pool under the umbrellas or on your  lawn chair. The Melita Pool is  the highlight of summer fun in our community. There are activities and lessons for all ages. The pool houses two water slides, a baby pool, toddler pool, water features, diving board and modern change rooms. There are lifeguards on duty during all operating hours.

The Melita Aquatic Centre is now under the management of the Southwest Recreation District.
